9 month day Hazelle!

Today is Hazelle's 9 month old day! As of right now I have no idea where she is located and no idea what she is doing. Hopefully I will hear soon considering it has been a month since she has officially been Cc'd and they have not told me anything!
Hope everyone has had a Happy New Year and had a great Holiday break!!

Rio day 1

Well today I got Rio and he is quite the handsome fellow. Me and my family took him to the mall and he was super good the whole time with no problems. We came home and had a couple of dominance problems with my pet dog and him but those are pretty much now taken care of. He had a couple of problems with our cats at first but the cats didn't let him get away with anything. We let him run around in the backyard a couple of times and that pretty much wore him out. He is much calmer then Hazelle and almost as calm as Breeze. The only problem is when other dogs are around.
While I had Rio on tie down for dinner he was missing all the fun with my other animals

Hazelle News.

On Sunday November 13th my dog Graham bit Hazelle over food. We told our leader who then told our CFR, together we decided that we needed to transfer her just because Hazelle is already skittish and they were worried that she might get even worse than that but they were not quite as worried that she would be in danger.
From the start Hazelle has not been an easy puppy to train and she has hated going out in public. We have told our leader multiple times that she just did not want to go out in public and that she hated wearing the head collar. On Saturday November 19, 2011 we had an evaluation with our CFR which also happened to be the day we transferred her. Our CFR then took her back home with her and has been evaluating her since then. I didn't end up having an actual evaluation with her but I knew that she was going to be evaluated when she got back to Colorado. So for the past couple weeks she has been evaluated. December 1st we got the news that she has officially been Career Changed we are not exactly sure why but our leader later told us that she had so many problems there was no way that they would all be fixed by the time she went to Formal Training due to the fact that we had to transfer her for the reason we did we are not allowed to keep her. I have never really bonded with Hazelle which is another reason why I probably shouldn't keep her but I also think that is because she never wanted to go out into public so I just felt she hated it. I think she is an awesome dog and has a really sweet attitude but just is not the right dog for me. She will be placed by GDB. Although right now I am not allowed to raise another Guide Dog they are allowing me to puppy sit. I will now be talking about my many adventures with guide dogs from my group! My first pup I get to watch is Rio over Christmas break. I am super excited!!

3 Months old today

Hazelle is now 3 months old and I am finally starting to like her (not that I didn't like her before but we have been having a rough start)! We started out with some problems crate training her and so every morning no matter how early I woke up I would have to clean out her kennel. We took her off her food and right now have been transitioning back onto normal food. She is quite smart and calm but is pretty vocal and can get kinda mean. 3 things that I love about her are:
1: She loves to cuddle and loves to be held.
2: Her head tilt when she hears different sounds.
3: Her squishy face. It is all wrinkly and so when she is looking at you she looks like she is a million years old! Bonus: She watches TV! It is pretty hilarious.

Phase Report

Well today we got phase reports but Breeze and 2 of her other siblings that went back on the truck with her have not been added to the list yet so hopefully she will be on the list next week maybe in phase 1 haha probably not though. They are most likely still doing medical evals with her!

Off to Oregon and last couple days at home

Well yesterday morning I got up bright and early to take Breeze to the puppy truck. We decided that we wanted to leave little Hazelle home. We got there at about 8:00 AM so we just talked to the people at the truck who were giving away their dogs also. I saw two of Breeze's siblings there Becky and Batik. They are both heading to Oregon with her and I am excited to see how they all progress.
The two times I have been to the puppy truck they have been happy times but this time it totally stunk. When we got there one of the drivers of the truck asked me some info about Breeze mainly if she had had Heart worm and then what type of food she is on and how much she gets each day. It was all easy to do until I had to put Breeze on the truck. We put her up in her kennel and said our goodbyes and she just looked like she didn't really care why she was up there but then when we closed the kennel door she looked sad and wondering why we just did what we did. It was really hard for me to leave but then finally did. I hope she does well but there is also a part of me that wants her Career changed because I would love to keep her as a pet. Breeze totally reminded me of me and I think that is why it was also so hard for me to give her up. I am looking forward to the phase reports every week now and every time my leader calls me I will probably freak out.
Breeze in her kennel ready to go to Oregon

Breeze looking sad and wondering why we just put her in there
Breeze should be in Oregon now or soon and is stepping into the next part of her life.

A couple days before Breeze left and when we had just gotten Hazelle we had 4 dogs at our house. We had our own pet dog Graham and then we also had three PIT's in our home: Breeze, Hazelle and Lacole who is a dog in our group.

Lacole has been an awesome dog to watch and even though we had four dogs she made it easier because she is much calmer and kinda lazy like Breeze. It was pretty hectic having four dogs but I think I would rather have four dogs then have Breeze missing. Here are some pictures of the dogs the past few days.

All four dogs settled down and none of them are on tie down. They are all touching each other also.

My H puppy!

Well today I got my second guide dog puppy she is a female yellow lab name Hazelle pronounced Hay- Zel not like the normal word Hazel. She was born on April 2, 2011 to Jenkins and Jillian. She is super cute and is a lot of fun so far!

What happened to my 10 week old pup?

Well today is Breeze's 15 month old day which means she can officially go back to the Guide Dogs for the Blind campus. I remember when I got Breeze at 10 weeks old and just barely starting her training now I have 13 days left with her and getting ready to start the adventure all over again with a new puppy. She was a quick learner and easier to teach because of it. I will miss my white little Breeze like crazy but I really hope she makes it as a guide. I don't think Breeze will be happy just staying home and being a pet dog because she loves going everywhere with me and hates it when I do not take her with me. Breeze has been a great first puppy to train even though she can be super stubborn at times and doesn't want to do what you want her to do at times. She also likes to do things that she know she is not supposed to do just to make sure that you will get mad at her for it such as picking up things in her mouth. She will pick things up in her mouth and then run to you to see if you notice she picked something up, she will drop it once you see what she has but she just does it to make sure that she is still not allowed to do it. I am looking forward to seeing her name on the phase reports every week and seeing her progress and I am excited to see how well she does.

13 Months

I am such a terrible person and did not write a 12 month post plus I got this one out a day late. I promise you though that I wrote all of it yesterday except for 2 of the numbers. :) I also did not do very much on her birthday although I did have to give a slide show presentation and we mentioned her in it. Anyway here are her 13 things at 13 months.

1. Breeze is awesome on outings.
2. She has been going on outings without her head collar on and doing really well.
3. Breeze is being recalled on June 8 or 9. I am not looking forward to this day but I think she is ready to move on in her life.
4. She is super soft and super fun to cuddle with and pet.
5. She makes me laugh multiple times a day because she is so dopey.
6. She is pretty much always loose in the house now and does pretty well.
7. She sleeps outside of her kennel on her bed, and does not mess with anything in my room.
8. We tell her to leave a room and she leaves.
9. She will wake you up in the morning if she is told to.
10. She will do anything and go anywhere because she has a very whatever attitude.
11. She is a very calm dog and does not require much energy.
12. She comes to band class with me and does really well in it. Everyone loves her.
13. She is very obedient.

Notice the Difference?

11 months already :(

It is so sad that my time with Breeze is almost up. She is almost a year old! Here are her 11 things at 11 months.

1. She loves to go to school and see all her new friends.
2. She does really well out in public and will just sleep through school. At home is another thing...

(Breeze with a roll of tape over her mouth)

3. She does really well at night where she just sleeps on her dog bed and doesn't bother anything but her bone.
4. She struts through school like she owns the place. With her tale wagging and her head up. (so cute)
5. She now weighs 56 lbs.
6. She loves to be with people and will lick them anytime she gets the chance. (I am trying to stop it. The licking that is)
7. She is really good at all her commands besides stand. Believe it or not she is quite the lazy dog and tries to lay down as soon as she can.
8. Right after her dinner she just totally crashes on tie down as if she has nothing else to live for.
9. She has started to come to P.E. with me and she is really good except that she gets up from where she is at to come look for me. We will be working on that also.
10. She does really well in my band class and just sleeps through it all. Everyone wants to know how she does it. :)
11. I love her droopy eyes and how she always looks sad. She also is super soft!
I love my doggy! She is so great!

(Her favorite toy. Who knew?)

9 things at 9 months Yes I know I am late:)

On the 28th of November, my puppy Breeze turned 9 months old. I can't believe I have had her for 6 months.
Things I love about her :)
1. I love her spunky personality. (Yes she is not always a calm puppy. Without her vest she gets a little too happy) :)
2. She is willing to go anywhere with you.
3. She is not a very vocal puppy.
4. She has the saddest puppy dog eyes ever. When she is waiting for her food she will look up at you with her ears back and keep her head straight while her eyes look up at you.
5. For the most part she walks by your side.
6. She likes to walk fast. (I am a speed walker and my friends have started walking fast because they want to keep up with me. Breeze is the same way because she doesn't like to be pulled.) ;)
7. I also like how she is only active for a couple hours out of everyday so I am able to do homework and such.
8. She has very droopy eyes. They are so cute but make you so sad for her.
9. She has so much extra skin around her head she looks like she has a fur collar.

8 month day!

Yesterday Breeze turned 8 months old! The time has flown by. Here are her 8 things at 8 months.

1. I love her droopy eyes and how dopey she is.
2. I love how good she is out in public and how people ask if she is always that calm. (The answer is no.)
3. I love that she is a really pretty white color, but that her ears and tail are darker than the rest of her!
4. I love how soft she is (like velvet).
5. I love how she is willing to do whatever we are doing because she has a very "whatever" attitude.
6. I love how when she chews her toy bones she lifts them up into the air and chews on them in between the stair rails or on the couch or just up in the air.
(Breeze chewing her bone on the couch. It looks like she is
chewing the couch but really she is not)

7.  I love how she will not whine in her crate if I am still asleep. She will just go back to sleep until I am ready to get her out.
8. I love how she is so worried about me. Sometimes when my mom gets her up in the morning for me while I am still sleeping she comes running into my room to make sure that I am okay.
Bonus- because she is just that awesome: I love how she tries to scratch an itch with her back paw while standing up. (It never works.)

School and such!

Well the past few days Breeze has been coming to school with me. She has not started going full days yet but I hope she soon will. On Wed the 15th she was at the vet getting spayed. I did not get her back until Friday. She did not go to our puppy meeting on Saturday but she did go to church with me on Sunday and has been going to school with me since Monday. The reason we started taking her out so early (since she still had stitches) is because we figured she was safer at school then at home where she might rip her stitches out while playing with my dog Graham. So far Breeze is doing great at school.

Breeze has been going to school since the 10th and she has been doing really well.
The questions and reactions I get from people are interesting. I mean I love how people are interested in learning about Guide dogs, but it is hard to keep answering the same questions over and over. Luckily while I am at school I am usually with friends so they help out. There are still people at school who have not figured out that a dog has been going to school for awhile. Oh well... The best question I get though is "Are you blind?" The answer is no I am not. Well not legally anyway... I am not the only person who gets asked this question though the people I eat lunch with and people I hang out with get asked "Is she blind?" The all reply no. It is a lot of fun being able to take a dog to school and it is a great learning experience for everybody!
Breeze may be getting her stitches out either today or tomorrow. I think she is awaiting the day though because she may look like she is super calm but she really is not and she wants to be able to run around the house and backyard with out getting in trouble for it.
Well that's all for now!!
(Sorry no pictures of Breezes' first days at school because camera's are not allowed at school along with backpacks which rather stinks but I guess that is just how it is...)

6 months and more

Well I have not posted in a while so here are a few things. Breeze now weighs about 48 pounds. She is also 6 months old but I never did a post for it so I will do it right now.

Things she does well:

1. She is very calm out in public and settles really well.
2. She is getting really good on Tie Down but still needs some work.
3. Her come is improving. She was going through the rebellious stage so she would stop coming but now she is getting better at it!
4. She is starting to walk on a loose leash with a flat collar but still needs the head collar.
5. Breeze is really good around kids and enjoys them.
6. She does most of her commands when you tell her to.

Things to work on:

1. Breeze is very dog distracted and pulls on the leash to get to them.
2. She is starting to have accidents again but I think that may be some of my fault.
3. Breeze is a very big garbage mouth and will pick up anything that is on the floor.
4. She plays keep away with toys she is not aloud to have.
5. Breeze is not able to "stay" in a room that I am not in. Instead she tries to follow me around.
6. She also knows when I don't have treats for come so she will not come.

Because Breeze is now 6 months old we got a letter telling us that she needs to get spayed! Also Breeze will be going to school with me tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday then will be getting spayed on Wednesday!

5 Months Old

Today Breeze is 5 months old so here are the 5 things to work on and the 5 things that are good.

Things to work on:

1: Puppy Push up. We have started doing the sit, down, puppy push up and she is getting really good on them considering that we started only about 3 days ago!

2: She still has trouble staying in a sit if I leave the room she will get curious and wonder were I went so she will start following me.

3: Breeze has now started jumping up on people and on objects. She will jump up on you if you are standing and have food in your hand.

4: Breeze also whines on Tie Down and in her crate if you keep the light on and don't close the door.

5: She takes toys and things that are not hers and will play keep away with them.

Good things:

1: She is really good out in the public!

2: Her come is getting really good while off leash.

3: Her "go to bed" is really good she will most of the time go on command!]

4: Breeze will do her business on command and she will do it on cement too.

5: Breeze is getting use to the command Kennel and now when I tell her to go into her crate a few feet away she will go right in.

Here is a picture on her 5 month day!

4 Month Day

Breeze turned 4 months old yesterday but I was not home so I could not write this post! Well Happy 4 month day Breeze!!! Well since she is 4 months old that also means that she has gotten her 16 week shots and that also means that we can start taking her places. She has been to 2 places with me. She went to Target and then to a restaurant. She did really well in both but threw up a little in both. Anyway the 4 things I love and 4 things I need to work on are:

Love:
1. She is very smart.
2. The places I have taken her she does really well.
3. Does sit really well and also Wait.
4. Her attitude is awesome. She is always happy and willing to please!

Work on:
1. The throwing up.
2. Her stay. She always gets up before you tell her to.
3. Her down. She hates going down although is always Lying Down
4. Walking on a leash. She pulls while walking so I have been using the Gentle Leader and Halti
