I know that Idaho state law also allows the puppies-in-training legal access to any public place, but I don't know which other states also have this and it would be a good thing to know for when I travel with my pup in training.Ashleighhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18169700986789789156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2092512980858653466.post-1297639767420579322010-08-12T08:32:47.066-06:002010-08-12T08:32:47.066-06:00Good luck having Breeze at school! These are going to be two well-learned pups!Sarah and the Pack.https://www.blogger.com/profile/12762168904677499109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2092512980858653466.post-77786980170030174762010-08-12T07:25:25.692-06:002010-08-12T07:25:25.692-06:00I'm so glad that he was so open minded to the ...I'm so glad that he was so open minded to the idea. My principle never really said yes. He said there was no reason for me to bring "a dog" to school and that it was a horrible idea because it would upset the parents. What you'll find is that most parents will think that you are doing a fabulous thing for your community. I'm glad she's going with you at least a few times a week. The only way I got Freya to school was that my dad couldn't take her, Candie couldn't take her, and it was my last week with her so I said either he let me bring her to school or I would miss a week. :)

I would ask the teachers to take 5 minutes out of the first class with her so you can explain that they shouldn't even act like she was there.

Good Luck! She's going to do fine.Raiser Erinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15290705558126751663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2092512980858653466.post-32239133262009454272010-08-11T21:51:32.203-06:002010-08-11T21:51:32.203-06:00Hurray! It sounds like you're doing everything to make it a really positive experience for you and Breeze. I remember on Don's first day, I made sure he had been well exercised before he came- and he slept through the entire class! I'd suggest talking to your class ahead of time, too, to lay down the rules and answer questions about Guide Dogs.

My principal was also worried about the dog being a distraction- but I just told my classmates that at school Don was "on duty" and it could hurt his training if they pet him. Everyone ignored him for the most part. In fact, my Spanish teacher thought having a dog in the classroom made it a better place!

Good luck! I think Breeze is going to be great! You reminded me I have to talk to my new school about bringing Don :)Laurenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14424954284785857607noreply@blogger.com
